The Minister of information and culture, Lai Mohammed, in collaboration with the Nigeria Broadcasting Corporation, NBC, has slammed Vanguard Newspaper with N10 million Naira fine for publishing Nnamdi Kanu' s open letter to the US president.
Recall that it was N5 Million fine previously slammed on Channels TV for interviewing Emma Powerful, the spokesperson of the Indigenous People Of Biafra, IPOB, in the same vein, Lia Mohammed has accused Vanguard Newspaper of supporting terrorist IPOB, he vow to sanction them.
The Minister made this known while reacting to the report that the US has rejected Nigeria' s request to relocate it' s African military command from Germany to Africa. The request was made by President Buhari in a virtual meeting with US ambassadors. The Minister has now claimed Nnamdi Kanu' s made America reject Buhari' s request.
As reported by DailySun, the US did not highlight the reason for declining President Buhari' s offer, they simply declined to oblige President Buhari' s Request.
In his words, he said; " Nnamdi kanu is our problem in this country and he is the one sponsoring Boko Haram and bandits. How could we be begging for the US African military command to be relocated to Nigeria yet Kanu went ahead to write the US president an open letter? "
After accusing Nnamdi of being the sponsor of Boko Haram and Bandits, he went ahead to accused Nnamdi of being Nigeria' s headache, in his words;
" Now look at what he has caused? He is the headache we are having here. We are going to teach Vanguard newspaper a lesson for publishing that letter. They are now supporting IPOB and the call for the division of our great nation" the minister said.
The Vanguard Newspaper is yet to respond to the minister, will they appear the fine or will they not? We shall know in the coming days.
