Since the number of Covid19 cases started increasing in Nigeria, some states were locked down to curb the spread of the virus. This so far has helped to reduce the spread of the novel coronavirus.

During the period of the lockdown, people were ordered to stay at home and observe social distancing while outside. The stay at home order in states like Lagos and Abuja has been on for a month now and the occupants of the state are complaining. The key point to their complaints is hunger. Some are complaining of not having food to eat and they need to go out to fend for themselves and their family.

This complaint of the masses is something that can’t be written off because it is true. People need food to be able to stay at home.

The last 2 weeks stay at home order has ended today 27, March 2020, and people are waiting for President Buhari to call off the lockdown order so people will resume at their various places of work.

This decision of President Buhari today will have a huge impact on Nigeria as it will determine if covid19 outbreak will happen in Nigeria or not.

This is a very big decision for the president to make. He has heard the cries of the masses and would want to listen to them by reopening the states on lockdown but this decision of hes will determine a lot in the coming weeks regarding the spread of covid19 in the country.

If President Buhari calls of the lockdown today, the rate at which the virus is spreading will increase. This is because Nigerians will not obey the social distancing order. As we all know, wearing a face mask or nose mask doesn’t necessarily protect you from contracting covid19.

Relaxing the lockdown means that markets will be opened, even if measures are being put to place in the market to help curb the spread of the virus, Nigerians will not respect those measures.

Relaxing the lockdown will mean no gathering of more than 20 to 50 people, but we all know that Nigerians will not obey this order because even with the lockdown people still gather to drink together in some places.

Relaxing the lockdown will put every Nigerian at risk. Most people in Nigeria don’t have cars so public transportation is the next option. People taking public transport to their various places of work is at the risk of contracting the virus, even if measures are put in place to limit the numbers of passengers in a single bus.

The presidents decision today will determine a lot in Nigeria, it’s a known fact that we can’t deal with the outbreak of covid19, but if the president decides to call of the lockdown then we should be ready for the worst.

The worst in the sense that we will experience the rise in covid19 cases more than ever. Many people might not believe this statement but will understand when it happens.

Lagos state governor Jide Sanwolu on the other hand is calling for a compulsory wearing of mask in the state in public places to help curb the spread of the virus, but most people will at the same time not listen to the words of the governor of the state.

This in return will increase the spread of the virus in the state. Even if interstate lockdown is issued, it won’t be enough to help reduce the press of the virus if the President decides to call of the lockdown.

I hope President Buhari makes the right decision today as his decision will have a huge impact on Nigerians and the spread of covid19 in the country.
