The death in kano is becoming alrming as kano is passing through a very hard time right now, although the officials are trying to keep some as a secrete so they can be able to contain the whole situation but the truth must be known.

The increase within the toll comes at the time the state witnessed a spike in COVID-19 cases. As of Friday, 74 cases of COVID-19 are recorded in Kano.

One of the medical examiners at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital who spoke with TheCable, however, said he feared there are more cases than recorded because the state lacks testing capacity.

“Things are in disarray here, and there's no well structured response to COVID-19. the govt. isn't communicating. they're not testing, and other people are dying. we've got had people coming here to hospital and after they died, they're immediately buried without taking samples for testing,” he said.

“This isn't a rumour. People are dying. The suspended test centre was fumigated days ago, and normally it should take 48 hours but as of today, it's not been reopened. They said this can be due to the shortage of reagents.”

Mubarak Umar, an Abuja/Kano based journalist, also tweeted a listing of over 10 prominent persons that died on Saturday in Kano which include an ex grand khadi, former deputy administrator of Bayero University Kano (BUK), and a former chairman of the state universal basic education board.

this type of massive death have never been recorded in kano before, this can only mean one thing, those peeople dying are infected with covid-19

an official of the state has confirmed that the ‘unusual deaths’ within the state has risen to 640 in barely seven days.

Speaking on Channels TV about the increasing deaths within the state, the Deputy Coordinator, Kano State Covid-19 Response, Dr. Sabitu Shuaibu clarified that the 640 death was recorded within the last one week and not in two days as insinuated by some person within the social media.

He added, “Let’s say about a mean of 100 deaths daily from Kano metropolis, but don’t forget that around 50% of the Kano population are within the metropolis; we are able to agree that there are deaths occurring, but we also understand that there are deaths occurring from other causes. We are saying that we are putting up a system to analyze if there's a link between Covid-19 and therefore the deaths.
