Holy Anger: Why Bishop Oyedepo is Angry with Nigerian Government
The Presiding Bishop of Living Faith Church Worldwide aka Winners Chapel is obviously not in good mood. Last week makes it 39 years when he received the liberation mandate and so far not bad. The church has moved from eight people who started it to millions of people and present in almost all the countries of the world. 39 years of grace, 39 years of global exploits. The Lord has been merciful to his people and this calls for big a big celebration.
Eventually, the corona virus did not allow the big celebration to hold. The church is under lock, and no thanks to the federal government who opened markets for six hours but cannot open church for just two hours. The ever excited winners members can only do little online for the God who has been so good to his people in the last thirty-nine years. Therefore, if the Bishop is angry with the federal government for closing the church and opening the market, it is understandable. Some bad Children online even said that why will the government open one market and close the other, may God forgive them for they know not what they are saying.
Nine years ago, I was live at Canaan Land, headquarters of Living Faith Church International to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the ministry, Pastor Adeboye was the guest preacher and it was a global event for all winners family. We even had ankara uniform with the picture of Papa and mama. It was marvelous.
Now for the first time in the history of the church founders day was celebrated online, that means a lot to the church and the Church's bank accounts. Nigerians have been attacking the Bishop for condemning the federal government for continues lockdown of churches and their activities but the Bishop still believe that there is a balm in Gillard, and that the church still possess the healing power which corona virus cannot withstand.
For almost ten years that I followed Bishop Oyedepo closely, his teachings, his philosophy and charisma were second to none. He is a fantastic teacher. Each time I needed motivation, I listened to the audio clips of the empowerment summit held by the Bishop in 2011 in Ghana. That summit is still about the best I have attended so far. It was not about religion, it was practical and perfect. Anyone who could follow religiously the steps highlighted by the Bishop in that teaching will surely excel in his endeavor. That is one side of Oyedepo that I admired so much; he is an excellent teacher.
When the church first stop there activities over the spread of corona virus, Living Faith Church was one of the churches that released the MS Code for online payment to the church, this is the other side of the Bishop that I don't really like. The love of money is the root of all evil says the Bible. When the code was released, I wrote an article to condemn the move. I called it insensitive and, I thought it was inhuman of the Bishop to roll out online payment platform when members of the church are yet to device means of surviving the lockdown. It shows that the Bishop was more concerned about keep his business running while other businesses are closed, including his members.
Living Faith Church is one of the richest church in the world and Bishop Oyedepos net worth is measured in million dollars. That church can survive without offerings for one year according to the reports of the Bishop during the last year Shiloh.
Probably, the online payment is not working as planned and the Bishop is furious and want the church opened so that his members can continue coming to oil the ministry. The prosperity of this world, which the Bible confirms belongs to Satan the devil, is now a factor in the Bishop's activities when the Bishop has told us severally that wealth is insatiable and that we should control our greed. This side of Bishop is not living the talking. Of all the other sides of the Bishop his Insatiable craving for wealth is not very pleasant, after all this world is not our own we are just passing by and there is nothing we get here that we will take with us when we die.
The Church of Christ of Latter Days Saints shocked the whole world when they announced a three year tithe refund to his members as a form of palliative in this difficulty time. However, Oyedepo and his co in Nigeria are only particular about when their market will open again when they know that their anointing oil cannot cure corona virus.
