Hushpuppi and his 11 cronies were arrested on the 10th of June, on counts ranging from money laundering, hacking, impersonation, identity theft etc.
Ponle aka Woodberry was also extradited to the US alongside Hushpuppi. He is being charged with conspiracy to commit fraud and if convicted he stands the chance of getting about 20 years jail term.
The affidavit filed by the FBI also states that Woodberry stashed away huge sum from the fraud as of January to September of 2020. That Woodberry used mules during his transactions with victims and that the money mules were directed to open bank accounts with the details of their victim companies.
The mules were later instructed by Woodberry to convert those monies to Bitcoin and to send them to his Bitcoin Wallet. FBI is finding it hard to access his Bitcoin Wallet because of the wallet address that does not contain individuals information.
