Yesterday, there was a national mourning in America, as the first memorial service of George Floyd was held in North Central University.

The memorial service attracted quite a number of celebrities and dignitaries in America, as they came to pay their last respects to Floyd.

George Floyd has become a national hero since his death in the hands of the Minneapolis police officer, Derek Chauvin, as many people believe that his death will spark fresh conversations on cultural and racial disparities in policing in America, and put an end to hate crimes.

The memorial service was at the Frank J. Lindquist Sanctuary at the University, was the first of the three public memorial services to be held in honor of the late Floyd.

Floyd is expected to be buried at the Houston Memorial Gardens in Pearland. A viewing and memorial service will also be hosted on Saturday at Raeford, North Carolina, where George Floyd was born. Floyd's body will then arrive in Houston on Sunday.

The activist, Rev. Al Sharpton, delivered the eulogy at the service. His speech was very emotional. He said that George Floyd did not die of common health conditions. He died of a common criminal justice system malfunction.

George Floyd died because there has not been the corrective behavior that has taught America that if you commit a crime, then you must pay for it, no matter who you are.

Former U.S. vice-president, Joe Biden announced the other day that he will be attending the second memorial service.

The church confirmed that other dignitaries expected to be at the second funeral are - Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner, Floyd's family attorney Ben Crump, U.S. Rep. Sheila Jackson Lee, Floyd Mayweather, Slim Thug, Rev. Al Green, Paul Wall, and Leela James.
